Yoenis Cespedes has a mild hip bend strain, which is the same disease that he has been through recently. And while Mets is considering placing Cespedes on DL, he will be available to squeeze here on Tuesday night, said GM Sandy Alderson.
"It's the same long-term injury," said Alderson on Tuesday. "In the last few days, he had reported that he had not improved. We decided to make a precautionary MRI this morning which revealed a mild strain."
Metsna spoke to Cespedes after MR, and he said things had not really improved since Sunday. Alderson said it was "in his best interest at the moment" not to be in lineup.
Alderson added that Mets will monitor things in the next few days and that Cespedes is "ready to be realistic" about the opportunity to be placed on DL ̵
"We are very aware that somehow can not continue," Alderson said.
At the same time, the manager Mickey Callaway said that Mets only uses Cespedes as a knife hitter on Tuesday night unless Mets "has a clear chance to win the game."
From now on, Mets can backdate all potential Cespedes DL stint to 14 May.
