AURORA – North Illinois University Teachers Trevor Wehner from Sheridan had just started working at the Human Resources Department at Mueller Water Products when he attended a meeting where an employee was terminated.
That meeting became tragic when employee Gary Martin, the subject of termination, opened fire in the room. Wehner was among the five employees who were killed yesterday in Aurora shooting.
Police released the names Saturday morning of the five employees killed during Friday's shot in the Henry Pratt building in Aurora.
In addition to Wehner, they include: 19659004] Clayton Parks of Elgin, Human Resources Manager
Russell Beyer of Yorkville, a mold operator
Vicente Juarez of Oswego, a warehouse manager and forklift operator
Josh Pinkard also by Oswego, Plant Manager
Another victim of protection, a male employee, was treated at a local hospital for life-threatening gunshot wounds.
In the morning hours after the shot in the historic Henry Pratt building in Aurora, the family members of the victims began to identify dear, surviving employees met with grief counselors and a community continued to absorb the shock of this local tragedy.
In addition to Wehner, Parks was an NIU alumnus, one according to a statement issued by NIU Chairman, Dr. Lisa C. Freeman.
Freeman noted that the parks graduated from the NIU College in 201
"Loss as this is devastating and pointless. I ask our university community to keep families, friends and communities in Wehner and Parker in your hearts and care them carefully thoughts, Freeman said.
"It is important that we also support each other during this time of grief and sorrow. Please know that there are a lot of resources available to you. Students seeking support can contact Counseling and Consultation Services 24 hours a day at 815-753-1206. Our human resources department is also available to provide assistance and support services. Mueller Water Products, the company that runs the Henry Pratt facility, released this statement on its Twitter account:
" Mueller Water Products is shocked and deeply saddened by the terrible tragedy that occurred today at our Henry Pratt facility in Aurora, Illinois.
Our hearts are with the victims and their loved ones, the first respondents, the Aurora community and the whole Mueller family during this extremely difficult time.
Our focus is on our colleague's health and well-being and we are committed to providing all support to them and their families.
We continue to work closely with law enforcement, with whom we share our deepest gratitude for their support. "
Five employees of the Western Suburban Valve Company were killed on Friday when their colleague Gary Martin of Aurora, apparently upset by the recent loss of his job, entered the building with a gun and started shooting.
Police responded and immediately fire from Martin, five of the officers were hit by gunfire on stage before finally firing Martin, who died of his wounds.
Officer continued to search for 29,000 square feet of additional evidence as the investigation continues.
