Even Donald Trump wasn't that difficult for Baltimore.
The Yankees won their 15th straight game over the Orioles on Tuesday night, this time 8-3, making another mockery of Baltimore's pitching. It is their longest win against an opponent in a season since they won 15 in a row against Philadelphia A's in 1954.
They have now had eight or more runs in six consecutive games against Baltimore – all in the last nine days – and is a season-high 39 games over .500 (80-41).
And for a change, the Yankees didn't just do it with their bats. They also got another solid outing from Domingo German, as the right trader continues to be their most reliable start. He allowed two runs in seven innings, helping Aaron Boone rest his bull the day after a double horse ̵
On Tuesday, the Yankees immediately got to work against left-hander John Means, with DJ LeMahieu sending his first pitch of the night to the places for a 1-0 lead. It was their 60th homer in 18 games against the Orioles.
Aaron Judge, Gio Urshela and Gary Sanchez all followed with hard-hitting outs.
Gleyber Torres still couldn't make an impact while meeting the Baltimore pitch and drawing a leadoff walk in the second. Didi Gregorius doubled to the right and Cameron Maybin delivered a two-run single to make it 3-0.
Gregorius almost rose to the lead in the third. With runners on the corners and two outs, he drilled a liner to deep center, where a running back Stevie Wilkerson made a lunging catch to save two runs.
However, it was only a matter of time until the Yankees scored again.
German struck around double in the second and third rounds before Anthony Santander opened fourth with a homer to center to get the Orioles to 3-1.
The Yankees extended their lead in the fourth on a two-out, two-run double from the struggling referee to end Means's outing. Urshela and Sanchez added RBI singles from Miguel Castro, who threw behind Sanchez during his bat. No warning was issued.
German gave up another solo homer in the fifth, this time to Wilkerson to reduce the Yankees lead to 7-2. Overall, the German was very effective in his 93 pitch outing as the Yankees try to determine how he could best utilize him along the stretch, with an unspecified inning limit turning. 8-2 before Tauchman was ejected when he became overly aggressive and tried to come in third in the game.
The Yankees conclude their season series with Baltimore on Wednesday, with the growing Native Americans coming to The Bronx for an important four-game series that will no doubt be more competitive than this mess.
From Torre's record-keeping performance – although he did not settle on Tuesday – to another three-day by Urshela, the Yankees have been relentless with little league quality on the mound.
The Orioles have lost eight of nine, including a 23-2 shellacking at the hands of the Astros last weekend.
Adonis Rosa made his MLB debut when he took over for German to start the eighth. It came a day after Brady Lail also appeared in his first game in the majors while the Yankees avoided using the heart in their pen.
