The new AI powered Google News app is now available for iOS – TechCrunch

Google retarded a new version of its AI smart news app at its I / O event last week, and today launched the new app to iOS and Android devices in 127 countries. The redesigned app replaces the previous Google Play Newsstand app.

The idea is to make finding and consuming news easier than ever, while providing an experience that is geared to each reader and supports media publications. The AI ​​element is designed to learn what you are reading to help you provide a better selection of content over time, while the app is presented with a clear and clean layout.

Opening the app provides the customized "For You" tab that serves as a quick briefing, serving the best five stories "at the moment" and a tailor-made selection of opinion articles and beyond reading.

If you click on a history, drag up the "Full Coverage" mode, which covers a range of content around a topic, including editing and opinion bits, tweets, videos, and an event timeline.

Favorites is a tab that allows customization set by the user – without AI. It works as you would imagine, so you can select selected topics, news sources, and places to filter your readings. There is also an option for saved searches and stories that can be quickly called.

The last episode is "Kiosk" which, as the name suggests, collects media. Google said last week that it plans to offer over 1,000 magazine titles that you can follow by tapping a star icon or subscribing. It currently looks a bit sparse without specific magazine titles, but we expect it to come soon.

As part of it, another feature will soon be "Subscribe with Google, which allows publications to offer subscription-based content. The subscription process uses the user's Google Account and the payment information they already have on the file. Then the paid content becomes available. on Google platforms, including Google News, Google Search, and publisher's own websites.
