US relations with Russia continue to be "worse and worse," said Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview published Thursday.
Putin commented on the Mir TV channel while discussing the sanctions imposed by the United States on Russia, according to a Kremlin transcript obtained by Reuters.
"They go downhill," Putin said of his country's relationship with the United States, "they get worse and worse."

The bleak assessment of relations between the United States and Russia comes before the G20 summit in Japan later this month, where Putin is likely to meet with President Trump.
