Taraji P. Henson praises Megan Thee Stallion when she’s named the Time 100 list

For the first time ever, the Time 100 Most Influential People in the World list was presented as part of an ABC TV special, including Megan Thee Stallion.

The publication traditionally pairs each person on the list with a famous fan or friend, with the 25-year-old rapper (real name Megan Jovon Ruth Pete) paired with Taraji P. Henson, who had nothing but praise for the Hot Girl Summer singer.

While Henson wrote a short piece for Time, she also spoke on video about why the rapper deserves a place among the most influential people in the world, as she was hailed as a pioneer by the publication.

‘I do not like to put the word “strong” on black women because I think it dehumanizes us. But Megan – she has a strength. She is the symbol of perseverance, “Henson began.

“She was shot this summer and people were still trying to tear her down,” Henson said, referring to an incident in July in which rapper Tory Lanez shot her after an argument in an SUV.

“It’s just refreshing to see her become a platinum-selling artist with several number one songs, but she has a plan that is much bigger,” Henson added.

The stallion himself added: ‘I’m like a girl’s girl. And I love supporting women. When I was younger, I just hung around my grandmother, my aunt and my mother. ‘

She added that she did not “hang out with many children” and that “my father was in prison for the first eight years.”

The rapper also praised his mother and added: ‘We were not rich, but my mother made me feel that we were rich.

‘As if, she took care of me, and my grandmother helped and my grandmother helped and they worked on these regular jobs and they just tried their best to just make me feel like I was a princess,’ ‘she added.

She also added how surprised she was at the “uprising” over her hit song Wap with Cardi B.

“When I saw all the politicians in agitation about mine and Cardi’s ‘Wap’, you know, I really pulled myself back,” she said laughing.

‘Like, why is this your focus right now? If you have a problem with what I’re saying, do not listen to it. Cancel, because I did not ask you to cancel, she added.

She ended her interview but said she loves how, ‘we have so many women in music right now, like, I just feel it’s better to work together because we could really just take over all this.’

Other entertainers on the Time 100 list who were on the ABC special included Michael B. Jordan, who talked about being inspired by the younger generation.

‘You know, for me, this generation inspires me. You know, they’re strong. You know, they have more potential than I do, he added.

‘Even with the pandemic and things that are a little out of our control, they still find ways to connect and come together as one. And I think it’s a beautiful thing to see, he added.

While still a child herself, 17-year-old Jojo Siwa added that she was also inspired by the children around her.

“What inspires me the most are the good people in the world. You know, the people who love everyone, who support everyone and who truly accept everyone for who they are. And of course the kids today, she said.

‘They inspire me to keep doing what I do and to keep having fun and to keep being a child,’ Siwa added.

Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade were named Time 100 to set an example for parents and let their children live their true selves.

“We have a daughter who is almost two, who the world has seen is bound to anything but what is in her heart and in her soul right now,” Union said.

‘We have another daughter who is 13 years old, who has the freedom to be exactly who she is, as she was born to be her most authentic self. She is not asking for permission to exist. It’s very inspiring, she said of their daughter Zaya, who came out as a transgender.

Wade added: ‘To portray my wife, we are inspired by our children. How they look at us, how they look to us for leadership, for guidance, for that moment of courage. ‘
