PlayStation 5: Confirmed: First party games are getting significantly more expensive

PlayStation 5 owners dig deeper into their pockets for every first party game. Sony has confirmed the new standard price.

The next generation will be an increasingly expensive hobby, especially for PlayStation 5 owners. Because while Sony has announced its launch series, the prices for these titles have been announced elsewhere. And they have now officially increased by 10 euros to 79.99 euros. This price increase for games developed by SIE Worldwide Studios was announced on the PlayStation blog.

The first games to be affected by the price increase are Demon̵

7;s Souls, Destruction All Stars and Spider-Man: Miles Morales – Ultimate Edition. However, there will be exceptions. The standard edition of Spieder-Man costs 60 euros, while Sackboy: A Big Adventure costs the previous 70 euros. This includes Sony 2K Games and Activision, which are the only third-party publishers to increase their prices for next-generation games.

In particular, owners of a PS5 Digital Edition will not be able to avoid the price increase, as digital versions of games are only reduced through sales but are not affected by the usual price drop on physical versions.

One reason for the increased prices is probably the increasing development. PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan commented on this topic a few months ago and wished he had more compact gaming experiences back, as the current pricing at the time could not be maintained with increasing scope and development standards.
