Bern's SP Council of States Hans Stöckli returns during the fall of 2019 to the parliamentary elections. The Berner spain SP announced this on Saturday. If Stöckli is elected, he is likely to become President of the Government by 2020.
As SP-Switzerland announced on Saturday, Stöckli was nominated by the SP Government to the Bureau of the Small Chamber. Vaud SP member Géraldine Savary was actually planned for this post. She was elected Vice-President of the Small Chamber in November 2017.
This usually corresponds to the good work of the agency two years later. But Savary recently announced a money-scandal scandal that she will no longer stand for the Senate elections in 2019. SP Switzerland writes that the Bundeshaus Fraction had pleased with the decision of the SP-Stability Group.
Stöckli's candidacy clarifies a little point of departure for the state elections in the Bernese Canton. It was already known that FDP with national council council Christa Markwalder would compete. The party leadership will propose it to the delegates as a candidate in January.
It is also known that SVP wants to play the strongest party in the Bernese Canton. She announced in October that she would only name candidates when it was clear if the two government councils would start again.
The second present Bernese Council is Werner Luginbühl (BDP). He has not commented yet. Candidates will also be EPP National Councilor Marianne Streiff. If Stöckli is chosen, the 66-year-old mayor of Biel joins the Council of States in his third legislature.
According to the online edition of Der Bund on Saturday afternoon, GLP National Council Council Kathrin Bertschy is also available as the candidate council candidate. "Bern's canton is currently not represented in terms of age and sex, preferably." And the state council would make a progressive and ecological voice good, "said the 39-year-old in an interview.
