Leroy Sané needed only 7 minutes to show Schalke what he had learned since leaving the country two and a half years ago. The 23-year-old gave a 2: 2 equalization after beating his former club with a magnificent free kick from 30 meters and took Schalke out of the sail.
5 minutes later, Raheem Sterling fired after a long shot Ederson also beat Manchester City 3: 2 to make it a worthy end to a crazy match.
Schalke play penalty
City, a clear favorite after getting out on paper, took top tracker Sergio Agüero in the lead, Argentine made use of a mistake by Schalke goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann and scored goal 1: 0. Schalke failed to challenge a previous challenge.
Things got worse before the break:
- In the 38th minute Nicolas Otamendi flies the ball into the box. Judge Carlos Del Cerro Grande decides on punishment after the intervention of the video friend. Nabil Bentaleb scores in a 1-1 draw.
- Salif Sané is beaten just before the break for a free kick in the penalty area. Again, the judge decides to punish, again Bentaleb. However, Senegalese were probably just offside.
Sané comes and gives the turnaround
City disappointed with the episode over long distances. Nothing was to be seen from the star ensemble. And when Otamendi flew off the field in the 68th minute with a carrot, the surprising Schalke victory actually seemed. But then the city bus Pep Guardiola still had a good idea and joined Sané – and in the end he only won the talented ManCity.
