Forgotten works by Andy Warhol are sold in Uppsala – Culture & entertainment



Art A work by Andy Warhol has been rediscovered on Swedish soil and auctioned in December, Uppsala announces auction room.

The work "Absolut Warhol" was created by the pop artist in 1985 and has been in the Swedish collection Curt Nycander's private collection ever since . During his lifetime, Nycander was vice president of Vin & Sprit AB and the main character behind the international launch of Absolut Vodka.

Unlike other well-known works of art with the famous bottle of the time, "Absolut Warhol" never got many viewers. Until recently, it lay rolled up in the pipe it was transported to Sweden in.

Now there is a change in it. Between December 1

0 and 13, pop art fans have the opportunity to view and bid on the work when the Uppsala auction chamber invites to auction. The auction price is set at between SEK 15 and 20 million, which is a record for the auction chamber.

"Being able to rediscover an original work by Andy Warhol and then getting the assignment to sell the painting is fantastic," says Magnus Bexhed, CEO of Uppsala auction chamber in a press release.
