Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition adds Cody on June 26th

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition will add Cody as a playable character on June 26, Capcom announced.

■ Overview

Cody Travers has served his time behind bars but has now become the new mayor of Metro City. Even though he is busy with his everyday life, he will arrive at Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition on June 26th!

Hailing from the Beat-up series Final Fight – where Zekus's pup Guy was introduced too – Cody first appeared in the series Street Fighter in Street Fighter Alpha 3 . Cody could not adapt to peace, repeatedly in prison – or returned voluntarily ̵

1; after causing chaos in the streets by fighting through a conflict he could find. He temporarily struck out of prison in Super Street Fighter IV to seek cure for his sadness, but eventually returned from his own free will. In Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition Mike Haggar relieves Cody of his crime, leading to his being the new mayor of Metro City. Although he is constantly complaining, Cody secretly finds a shine of joy in his new position. However, this does not finally prevent him from solving problems with his bare hands, knives or touches.

Cody's movement in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition resembles his earlier appearances but changes to suit his new spiffy style. When not in V-Trigger, Cody can no longer throw stones as projectile or release a criminal upper like before. Instead, Cody now has Tornado Sweep, who sees him shooting a whirlwind gust like a traditional fireball. Cody still has Ruffian Kick and Zonk Knuckle as special moves. In addition, he now has some goal combinations.

■ Gameplay

V-Skill – Double Kick

A move from Final Fight Cody quickly jumps up and performs two kicks in the air to both sides. Double Shot can be used as an effective air air, and in some situations it can also end a combo box.

V-Trigger I – Sidarmel

In this two-block V-Trigger, Cody draws his signature knife. Side arm increases the range of Codys normal stroke, which also becomes more secure in blocks while holding the knife. He can also throw the knife by pushing HP + HK again straight to the opponent or at an angle upward as an air. After throwing the knife, Cody can then pull out his knife again by pressing HP + HK while V-Trigger I is active.

Cody also gets the Rapid Fire specialist, who sees him slashing several times and is a good combo. Although V-Trigger I stop quitting, if Cody still keeps the knife, he continues to hold it until he either threw it or hit the opponent – even in blocks.

V-Trigger II – Dirty Coach

In this two-block V-Trigger, Cody is armed with his reliable tube. With the tube in hand, the range of Cody's HP's drastically increases. He also channels his inner baseball player and gets Gentle Swing by pressing HP + HK again or Gentle Upper Swing, anti-air version.

If you wonder where Codys rocks went, they are implemented in this V-Trigger! During V-Trigger II, Cody can use Bean Ball, who sees him throwing a rock in front of him. Although the mountain has a hitbox if it is thrown on its own, Cody can follow up by turning it with Gentle Swing with varying results. Depending on the time, the mountain will either hit the opponent from the air in a small bow, crush straight to the opponent for several hits or roll against the opponent's feet. If Cody follows up with Gentle Upper Swing, the rock will fly from the screen and eventually land a certain distance depending on the push button used.

Although Cody loses access to Tornado Sweep with the tube in his hand, he gets the ability to interrupt some of his special moves in Gentle Swing. Like the knife, Cody will stick to the pipe after V-Trigger II ends until he hits the opponent with it – even in blocks. Cody uses his past behind bars
