Steam Link, a free app that allows players to play PC games on mobile devices, can now be downloaded on Apple platforms, including iPhone, iPad and Apple TV.

The introduction of Steam Link on Apple devices is a surprise after an episode in May 201

8, where Valve, Steam's parent company, publicly stated that Apple's App Store had rejected the "business conflicts" app.

Steam Link uses the processing power of a desktop or laptop PC to stream graphically intense games purchased on Steam to mobile devices or set-top boxes over a home network.

Games are an important part of Apple's App Store, and Steam is essentially a platform game store for computer games. App Store Rules allow Apple to reject any apps that contain a deployment platform for apps, but this summer, Apple updated its guidelines to enable mirroring services such as Steam Link, as long as purchases are made on the desktop.

"We would love Valve's games and services to be on iOS and AppleTV," says Apple's marketing vice president, Phil Schiller, in an email to some customers in May in May. "Unfortunately, the review team has discovered that Valves Steam iOS- The app, which is currently being submitted, violates a number of user-generated content guidelines, purchase purchases, content codes, etc. "

Steam Link has been available to Android users in beta since last year. Apple announced in March Apple Arcade, a subscription service by Apple -backed games for iPhones and other Apple devices.

The Steam Link app requires a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network or a wireless Ethernet connection, which supports Steam Controller, as well as controls made for iPhones and iPads, the company said in a statement.

Apple did not immediately submit a comment request. A valve representative did not indicate if any changes were made to the Steam Link app to ensure Apple's approval.
