Spotify imitates the radio with a news and music playlist for drivers

Spotify launches a new playlist called Your Daily Drive that will feature news podcasts. As of today, US users can listen to music they already enjoy, along with new music recommendations, with some news about podcast content. Everyone can access the playlist regardless of whether they are running.

Wall Street Journal NPR and Public Radio International will provide the news sound clips. News and music will be updated all day, unlike the platform's other popular playlists. Update Weekly updates, for example, once a week, and other personal playlists that your daily mix updates only once a day.

This new playlist joins other Spotify listings to promote podcasts. Verge reported earlier this month that Spotify is testing five different podcast-only playlists that are human-curated. While the playlists are only in the test phase for five percent of users in different countries, your daily device is available to all US users.

Today's playlist also comes a month after Spotify announced its first hardware project ̵

1; Car Thing – which is designed to collect data on how people consume sound in the car. Spotify's automatic audio ambitions mean that the company can not only be good at music. This playlist is closer to the radio principle, where the news goes into the mix of songs so often – although the new format does not yet contain weather and traffic, the two things that are most relevant to drivers.
