Sources – Mountain West to postpone the fall sports season

Mountain West is postponing its fall sports season due to concerns about the coronavirus pandemic, sources told ESPN.

The league presidents met on Monday afternoon to complete the decision. Stadium first reported the move.

Mountain West is the second FBS conference to postpone football and other fall sports and participated in the Mid-American Conference, which voted to do so on Saturday morning. A source said the launch is indefinite, although Mountain West will look to spring as an option for football and other fall sports.

Last week, Mountain West announced a football pitch model that included eight conference games and up to two non-league games at each member’s discretion. The schedule was set to start no earlier than the weekend of 26 September.

Sources told ESPN on Sunday that the vast majority of the ten major presidents prefer to postpone the fall season, even though the league had not had an official vote as of Monday afternoon. The Pac-1

2 presidents will meet on Tuesday to discuss the latest health information about the pandemic and possibly vote on the autumn sports season.
