Today Sony finally revealed PlayStation 5 in its entirety. It showed one fresh white design along with a whole new suite of games that include the return of familiar characters mixed with a host of brand new franchises, some of which looked dazzling.

The games were shown next door the new look of the device, which is long and thin and colored white on the front and back, with blue light and black accent colors on the sides. The company said it will reveal a price and launch date for the PS5 later. The company also said there will be a cloudless “all digital” version, which had been reported since 2012.

Sony is also calling in its friendly Spider-Man neighborhood to help launch its next-generation PlayStation 5 video game console later this year. Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales will be launched together with its new PS5 console in time for the holiday shopping season, Sony said. The play comes on Morales, a character with mixed race in the middle of the hit movie 2019, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse.

The announcement was part of an event Sony held on June 11 to discuss new titles planned for the PS5. Company had delayed the incident after protests erupted around the world in response to killing an unarmed black man, George Floyd, while in police custody.

Thursday’s event is the latest planned by Sony and Microsoft ahead of the launch of their respective PlayStation 5 and upcoming Xbox Series X brackets. The new devices, which are the first major new consoles since PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were released in 2013.

Microsoft has another event scheduled for July, when it plans to showcase new games from its own development studios – including 343 Industries, maker of the hit Halo space combat series and its latest title, Halo Infinite. Sony’s said it has more events planned, but has not yet said when they will come.
