If you thought Taraji P. Henson movie "What Men Want" was a new role on "What Women Want", think again ̵
1; a screenwriter says it's really a rip-off of his script, and now he's suing Paramount.
Joe Carlini states that he wrote a script entitled "What the F Is He Thinking?" back in 2015 and traded it around Hollywood – but Joe admits he broke out. No bite.
In his action, Joe states that he had meetings with representatives of large production companies, including Weinstein, Montage and Bloom. He even talked to several actors about the lead role in his film. Yes, he dropped some names in the documents … James Franco Chris Pratt Nick Swardson and King Bach . Still it never took flight. Cut up to two years later … when the film's producers, according to the documents, get Taraji on board for her film. When it came out in 2019, Joe says it was painfully obvious, for him anyway, they had jacked his script.
Among the similarities he saw: both protagonists wish they could understand men better … both fall and hit their heads after partying … and both wake up in the hospital and discover that they can hear men's thoughts.
Joe says that both characters even lose the power to hear men's thoughts in the same way – another bolt on the noggin. In his suit, Joe says that they also ripped off his idea of getting sports stars to make cameos. "What Men Want" had Shaquille O & # 39; Neal Grant Hill and Lisa Leslie . Joe says he was in talks with country NFL stars Terrell Owens and Cordarrelle Patterson for his film.
He suits Paramount, BET, producer Will Packer and most of the girl's screenwriters for copyright infringement. Carlini points out "WMW" raised more than $ 72 million, and now he wants a piece of that pie.
We have reached Paramount … no word yet.
