Scientists found a bit of a comet inside a meteorite

Space Turducken

Researchers found only a piece of the comet that hid inside a rocky meteorite that fell to the ground.

Normally, the comets burn when they enter the earth's atmosphere. In other words, according to Gizmodo, this cosmic calzone provided a shield around the comet fragments, giving scientists a valuable opportunity to study the origin of the solar system.

The meteorite in question is called LaPaz Icefield 02342, which was found in Antarctica in 2002. This new probe in the meteorite composition, published Monday in the journal Nature Astronomy describes 100 microns thick – the size of a thick human hair-rich segments that scientists suspect originate in a comet.

Without actually knowing how the meteorite was formed, scientists cannot fully conclude that there are pieces of housing of a comet, according to Gizmodo . But on the basis of what the scientists know about comets and meteorites, scientists suspect that a still-forming comet collided with a meteorite that eventually fell to the ground.

Very few comets survive the descent to earth, so if it really is what scientists found ]
