Nestlé Purina PetCare Company voluntarily recalls a limited amount of its Muse wet cat food "Natural Chicken Recipe in Gravy", the company announced in a statement Friday.

The recall is "out of a great caution" as some of the three ounce cans "may contain rubber pieces that are translucent yellow with a blue background, which may pose a potential choking hazard."

"We are pet owners and lovers. , and our first commitment is animal health and well-being, the company said in the statement also published on the US Food and Drug Administration website. "We just want products that meet our high quality standards in your pet's bowl."

The edition lists the recalled products as Muse wet cat food Natural Chicken Recipe in Chicken in three ounce cans:

  • Single three ounce cans with UPC code 38100 17199, best on the date of April 30, 2020 and lot number 8094116209 or 8094116210.
  • From a 6-channel package with UPC code 38100 17780, best at date April 30, 2020 and lot number 8094179001. Only Natural Chicken can be affected.

No other Purina products are affected by this voluntary recall.

The company said it had not received any reports on the date of injury or disease for cats receiving this product, and the recall was a caution. It is recommended that consumers discard any of the affected products you may have, and we will replace it, the statement says.

The company said it learned from the question after receiving complaints from pet owners who saw rubber bits in the cans.

"We have made changes in our process so it should not happen in the future," says Purina in the statement.
