Sony has still not confirmed the final details of its modern SSD, but in terms of speed, Samsung’s latest offering can offer just the right speed to beat the PS5. We know the prices of the Samsung NVMe SSD 980 PRO.
Samsung today unveiled its first consumer NVMe SSD based on the PCIe 4.0 standard – the 980 PRO model. The device offers sequential read and write at up to 7000 MB / s and 5000 MB / s respectively.
According to the manufacturer: the latest device is ideal for working with content in 4K and 8K resolution and playing productions with advanced graphics. According to the data presented, the device is twice as fast as the PCIe 3.0 SSD and up to 1
Samsung also confirms that they have developed an innovative solution that ensures optimal operating temperature and thus increases the performance of SSDs. In many cases of high-performance NVMe solid-state devices, engineers use external copper heat sinks, and the Samsung 980 PRO uses a nickel regulator coating and a heat dissipation layer on the back of the device.
Samsung NVMe SSD 980 PRO will be available in many variants – in september we will buy models with a capacity of 500 GB (669 PLN) and 1 TB (1019 PLN). The 250 GB option will debut in October and the 2TB model will be launched at the end of the year.

The Japanese manufacturer has still not confirmed the details for replacing PS5 discs.
