Pokemon Sword & Shield Stone Evolution Guide: Which Pokemon Are Developed Using Which Stones?

Pokemon Sword and Shield have arrived on the Nintendo Switch. The Gen 8 games have a host of new and recurring Pokémon, and just like before, many of them can only be developed with the help of some elemental rocks. If you are not sure which monsters evolve with these objects, we have described all evolutionary stones in sword and shield and Pokémon that require them below.

Where To Find Evolutionary Stones

There are a couple of reliable ways to find evolutionary stones in swords and shields. Every day you can find different stones behind the boulders in Lake of Outrage, so it is a good idea to return to the area often to pick them up. You can also give 500 watts – a new type of sword and shield currency – to the digging duo near Pokemon Nursery in Bridge Field to have them dig out objects. The objects they can excavate usually include evolutionary stones, so you want to collect as many watts as you can and visit the duo frequently to fill up.

How To Use Stones

Once you've got the right element stone, you can develop a compatible Pokémon simply by choosing the item from your bag. You can develop a Pokémon at any time using an elemental stone, but it is often sensible to wait until it reaches a certain level first; If you develop Pokémon too soon, it may not learn any useful attacks that it could only get in its undissolved form.
