Pinterest treats and stores a lot of food pictures, vacation photos and videos every day with Amazon's clouds. Now we know how much that work costs.

Pinterest's agreement with AWS has an unusual provision that allows the agreement to stop if the company is acquired.

Pinterest said it cannot "terminate the contract until the minimum amount is met, other than termination only under certain additional conditions (such as the other party's material breach or acquisition of another cloud service provider)."

Amazon is not just a technology provider to Pinterest – it's also a competitor. In its section on competition, Pinterest accentuates Amazon and Google as part of a group of major rivals, many of which have significantly greater economic and human resources.
