The 4.7 magnitude aftershock strikes parts of Mindanao 2 days after the earthquake

MANILA – A 4.7 magnitude earthquake hit North Cotabato late Thursday, Phivolcs said, two days after a 6.3 magnitude tremor hit the province and parts of Mindanao .

The tectonic tremor occurred at a shaking of 18:56 about 18 kilometers (km) at a depth of 16 km northeast of Tulunan town, where a strong earthquake first struck.

Tulunan felt intensity 4, while Kidapawan City and Matalam city in Cotabato experienced intensity 3.

Areas that felt instrumental intensities were:

  • Intensity IV ̵
    1; Kidapawan City
  • Intensity III – Koronadal City, South Cotabato; Malungon, Sarangani
  • Intensity II – Tupi, South Cotabato
  • Intensity I -Alabel, Sarangani

Phivolcs said that temblor was a aftermath of the 6.3 magnitude earthquake.

Damage to structures is not expected from aftershocks. [6.359003] Temblor size 6.3 left 5 dead and over 50 injured, confirmed officials.
