Manchester United player rating: Juan Mata and Anthony Martial good against Copenhagen – Samuel Luckhurst

Sergio Romero

Rarely demanded drastic action when he retained his place after last week’s victory over LASK. Copenhagen’s best chances were blocked. 6

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Took a hard blow to the head early and it seemed to shake him. Uncharacteristically, a slippery tackle lost but brilliantly denied Bryan Oviedo. 6

Eric Bailly

Made a couple of key blocks to prevent Copenhagen during the first half, but his second half booking meant he went on a tightrope and Victor Lindelof came for him. 6

Harry Maguire

Blocked just in the nick of time to spare Fred̵

7;s blushes and got a half-time booking after a cynical foul. 6

Brandon Williams

Performed a goal-saving header in his own area but reluctantly entered the opponent’s area and struggled during the second half. 5

Carelessly let Copenhagen in for their best chance. Not helped by being used in a role he is not suitable for but improved until he was replaced. 6

Paul pogba

Ole Gunnar Solskjær made a horse line for him during the first drink break to go faster but Pogba was nowhere near his best. 5

Bruno Fernandes

Not at the totemic level that United have been used to and were unlucky with a shot that bounced against standing and then stepped up to get another penalty. 7

Mason Greenwood

Thought he had his 18th goal of the season but was ruled offside and hit the post during the second half. Harshly replaced extra time. 6

Marcus Rashford

Another bad performance since the season started again. Had enough football to drop ring rust and luck not to get off. 4

Anthony Martial

Close to anonymous in the first half and was excellently denied by ‘goalkeeper Karl-Johan Johnsson late in regulation time and almost danced his way to winning a 90 minute winner. Won punishment. 7

Nemanja Matic

Offered balance as a specialized defensive midfielder. 6

Victor Lindelof

Calm down on the ball. 6

Juan Mata |

Has had a great impact on his creativity. 8

Jesse Lingard

Come to freshen up the attack. 5
