Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez believes that the United States should consider cutting military and financial support for Israel – and Jewish Democrats blow it up for it.
"I think it's something that can be discussed," she said on Sunday at Yahoo's "Skullduggery" podcast, adding that the idea should "surely" lie on the table.
"I think this is part of the conversations we have in our caucus," Congress added. "I hope to play a facilitating role in this conversation and a supporting role in this conversation. But I also know that there have been people who led this for a long time, such as Congresswoman [Betty] McCollum."
Ocasio- Cortez (D-NY) continued to describe Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a "Trump as a result of his announced plans to formally attach Jewish settlements to the West Bank.
" I think what we really see is an ascent of authoritarianism over the whole world, "she said.
The Jewish Democratic Council in America released a statement on Monday ripped Ocasio-Cortez for his comments.
" We are happy Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez acknowledges that she is not is the leader of Israel in Congress ", said the statement." We recommend working with Demiot leaders Eliot Engel, Nita Lowey and Ted Deutch before considering the future of US military help to Israel. Bands between the United States and Israel must replace the policy. "
