ANWB: holidaymakers waiting for busy traffic on European roads | Inland

Millions of people are on their way to their holiday destination this weekend or are on their way back. The expected summer weather also saw many day trippers hit the road. According to the ANWB, a lot of traffic and delays should already be taken into account in the Netherlands on Friday, especially towards the coast and wetlands.

Black Saturday

In France, the traffic police are preparing for the second Black Saturday. That day is expected to start around 6 in the morning with traffic jams on the A6 / A7, Autoroute du Soleil. A little later, traffic will also stop on the A10 between Paris and Tours and at Poitiers towards Bordeaux.

In Germany, road users will experience both departure and recurring holiday traffic. It will be very busy in both directions at the A7 Hamburg-Danish border, with the possibility of hours of traffic jams. In the south, traffic jams on the roads around Stuttgart, Nuremberg and Munich (A3, A8, A9). The road is under construction in many places in Germany.

Another bottleneck in Europe is the road through Austria to Slovenia. On the A10 between Salzburg and Villach and on the A11 in front of the Karawanken tunnel, warnings will be issued in both directions for a few hours waiting time on Saturday. In Switzerland, the waiting time comes on both sides of St. Gotthard tunnel (A2) to increase to more than one hour.
