Without a club for over a year, former Parisian Gregory Van der Wiel is back in the Netherlands. He is training with RKC Waalwijk, who will play in the Dutch Premier League next season.
Party of PSG four years ago for Fenerbahçe, Gregory Van der Wiel has put his career on hold for more than a year now and the end of his adventure with Toronto FC. He lived in the US with his model partner and daughter since March 2019 and the Dutch international has found a club in the Netherlands.
He has just joined RKC Waalwijk, which was last in the Eredivisie before the abolition of the Dutch championship. The Dutch federation has decided that there will be no relegations this year and the new club VdW will therefore still play in the first division next season.

Note that the 32-year-old right-back is simply training with RKC Waalwijk at the moment and has not yet signed a contract. It will probably all depend on what he shows in the next few weeks: “I have never closed the chapter on professional football. I am still in love with the game and I would like to return to the pitch with my teammates at a professional level every day”, reacted the former Ajax.
