Man, Vassell hit huge shots, lifted FSU past Hokies, to ACC semifinals

Boxing Points: Virginia Tech 65, Florida State 63 (OT)

College Basketball Post-Season is the time of big shots, and the Florida State Seminoles got two huge on the stretch to beat Virginia Tech during overtime, 65 -63, in The ACC tournament quarter finals on Thursday.

With the win, No. 4 seed Seminoles (26-6) will play No 1 seed Virginia on Friday at 7pm in the ACC tournament semi-finals. The Cavaliers merged the NC state earlier in the day.

After leading most of the game, Seminoles found three-point trailing with just a few seconds left after a couple of late bucks by Virginia Tech Center Kerry Blackshear Jr.

But the FSU freshman Devin Vassell came through with his biggest shot of his young career ̵

1; a 3-pointer from the left wing – to send the game to overtime.

Then with just 1.8 seconds left in overtime, FSU senior Terance Mann struck a disputed, running jump shot to give Seminoles 65-63 victory.

Vassell came from the bench to lead the FSU by 14 points, while Mann had 10 and higher forward Phil Cofer had nine.

It was FSU's second overtime victory against the Hokies (24-8) in less than two weeks; Seminoles rally for a 73-64 victory against Virginia Tech at home on March 5.

The Hokies played their second game on two days Thursday after beating Miami one day earlier.
