"It probably costs me from $ 3 billion to $ 5 billion"

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump on Tuesday argued that being president personally will cost him billions of dollars, in part because of the lawyers he has had to hire to defend him in various trials.

"This thing costs me a fortune to be president," Trump said during a speech at the Shell Petrochemical plant in Monaca, Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh.

"Someone said, 'Oh, he rented a room to a Saudi Arabia man for $ 500, "Trump said, citing reports that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and members of his delegation booked several nights at a Trump hotel.

" How about the $ 5 billion I will lose? "Trump asked, noting his high cost to lawyers." Every day they sue me for something. "

" It probably costs me from $ 3 to $ 5 billion for the privilege to be – and I couldn't care less me less – I don't care. You know if you're rich, it doesn't matter. I just want to do a good job, "Trump added.

These figures are virtually impossible to control; the president has not released his tax returns publicly and has been found previously to exaggerate his own wealth.

Trump also targeted the president "I've been sued for a thing called" compensation, "Trump said. "Nobody is watching Obama get $ 60 million for a book right now. It's okay, even if nobody in history ever got that much money for a book … But with me, that's all. "

Barack Obama and Michelle Obama signed a $ 65 million 2017 joint book deal after Obama left office. The reimbursement clause applies to federal office holders, not private citizens.

Speaking to a room full of factory workers in a state he narrowly barred in 2016, Trump joked about how easy re-election would be if he "got a fair press."

"Can you imagine if I got a fair "I mean we're leading without it," Trump said. "The election would be over. Have they ever talked about elections before? Just said" Look, let's go, go on, four more years. "
