NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – There have been some changes in how much sodium and potassium you should have daily.
The report came from the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine. UMass Amherst Head of Food Science, Eric Decker was part of this research.
The report says, depending on your age, it is important to know how much sodium and potassium you should have daily.
For example, it is found that people aged 1
Eight hundred milligrams for the 1 to 3 years, which is less than previously recommended.
Sodium and potassium are important nutrients that play important functional roles in the body. Both nutrients have been linked to the risk of chronic disease, especially cardiovascular disease.
The report also says that reduced sodium intake has a greater effect on adults with high blood pressure than in adults with normal blood pressure.
