iOS errors that prevent some apps from opening with the message “This app is no longer shared”

An app error is causing some iOS users to not be able to open their apps, as iPhone and iPad users who are affected see the message “This app is no longer shared with you” when they try to access an app.

There are several complaints about the problem at MacRumors forums and on Twitter from users who encounter problems. ONE MacRumors the reader describes the problem:

Experiencing any other major app crashes? I suddenly get information that “this app is no longer shared with you” from several iOS apps. When I follow the call to the app’s App Store page, the only option is to “open” which then just puts me back in the same loop.

Dozens of complaints on Twitter indicate that the problem affects people running both iOS 13.4.1 and iOS 13.5, and it is not clear what is causing the problem because not everyone seems to be affected. Some users have had the problem after updating apps over the last day.

There have been complaints on many apps including YouTube, Twitter, WhatsApp, Facebook, TikTok, LastPass and more. We updated the WhatsApp app an ‌iPhone‌ on iOS 13.5 before writing this article and received the error message immediately.

How to fix “This app is no longer shared”

People affected by the problem have been able to fix their apps by removing the app that is not working and reinstalling it. Downloading the app rather than removing it may also work to resolve the issue.
