Iconic “Golden Girls” House hits the market for $ 3 million

Time to grab your crazy buddies and set up a payout. The iconic home of hit-sitcom golden girls is for sale. The 4-bed, 3-bath Los Angeles home is on the market for $ 2.995 million.

On golden girls, Blanche Devereaux (Rue McClanahan), Rose Nylund (Betty White), Dorothy Zbornak (Bea Arthur) and Sophia Petrillo (Estelle Getty) all live in a mid-century modern house at 6151 Richmond Street in Miami. The exterior of the home is often seen when creating shots in sitcoms, which ran from 1985 to 1992. But the house is actually located in LA’s Brentwood neighborhood, not Florida.

Producers asked the original owners of the home for permission to use it on the show because of the exotic landscaping, which they considered appropriate with the Miami setting, according to The Wall Street Journal. The house was involved throughout golden girls“the first season, after which a replica was built on the studio party. (The studio was set up in 2003.) The interior of the home was never seen on the show.

golden girls The house was built in 1955 by David Noble Barry and his wife Margaret Carr Barry. The couple lived at home until their respective deaths in 2017 and 2019, their son James Barry told the Wall Street Journal. He explained that his parents did not watch sitcoms and were not fans of the show. But fans would often stop and take pictures in front of the house; they even asked Barry if they would think about proposing to his girlfriend in the garden. They gave him the go-ahead and even served the couple champagne afterwards.

The 2,900-square-foot house on about a quarter of an acre “was inspired by the beauty of mid-century Japanese / Hawaiian architecture,” according to Douglas Elliman.

The home has’ floor to ceiling glass, clerestory windows and ultra high ceilings [that] create expansive volume and visual transparency that perfectly connects indoors and outdoors. The 65-year-old home still has the original oak floors and vintage turquoise, avocado and yellow kitchen.

Fans are ready to buy the house

On Twitter, Golden girls Fans were quick to say that they would love to buy the home – if only they could afford it.
