Former Speaker Paul Ryan believes there is a way for Democrats to defeat President Donald Trump in the 2020 election and it has to do with personality.
President Donald Trump knocked out on Paul Ryan late on Thursday night on Twitter after the release of a coming book extract where the former President criticized him for not knowing "something about the government".
Shortly after CNN, Ryan's comments on Trump in Tim Albert's "American Carnage," describing how Republicans have changed with Trump's rise to the presidency, Trump replied with a series of insults in three tweets.
"Paul Ryan, the unsuccessful VP candidate and former speaker in the House, whose performance list was frightening (except during my first two years as president) ultimately became a long-standing lame and failure, which led his party to fall both as a fundraiser and leader, "Trump said in his first tweet .
"This is as bad as it gets": The book & # 39; American Carnage & # 39; details Paul Ryan, Reince Priebus relationship with Trump
Ryan told Alberta that he couldn't stand another two years with Trump and called retirement an "escape hatch," according to the Washington Post extract.
Trump also said that Mitt Romney's bid for president in 2012 was doomed after he chose Ryan as his current friend. Trump further criticized Ryan for not securing funding for a US-Mexico border.
"He had the majority and blew it off with his bad leadership and bad timing, "Trump said in his third tweet. "Never knew how to go after Dems as they go after us. Couldn't get him out of Congress fast enough!"
Ryan did not drive to re-election 2018 and Nancy Pelosi succeeded him as speaker after Democrats won control of the house.
In Albert's book, Ryan also knew Trump as undiscovered about the government: "I told myself I must have a relationship with this guy to help him get his mind right, says Ryan, according to The Washington Post. "Because I say he didn't know anything about the government … I wanted to divorce him all the time."
An expert in the book also describes how Ryan wanted to cancel Trump after the Access Hollywood band was released during the campaign.
"This is deadly," he told Reine Priebus, then chairman of the Republican National Committee. "How can you get him out of the race?"
