Dodger's great Don Newcombe passed away Tuesday after a long illness, the team said in a statement. He was 92 years old.
Newcombe is the first player to win Cy Young, MVP and Rookie of the Year Awards.
The team named Newcombe "one of the biggest jugs in the Dodger story and one of the franchise's final links to Brooklyn and Roy Campanella and Jackie Robinson."

In addition to being an award-winning potter, Newcombe could also beat well. In 1925, when Dodgers went to the World Series, Newcombe had a batting agent of .259 with seven races and 23 RBI, the Los Angeles Times reported. "Don Newcombe's Presence and Life established him as a role model for great leaguers across the country," said Kasten. "He was a constant presence at Dodger Stadium and the players always engraved on him for his endless advice and leadership. The Dodgers meant everything to him and we are all happy that he was part of our lives. "
