[Spoilersahead Bachelor in Paradise !]
This season of Bachelor in Paradise turned out to be an epic journey from beginning to end. And while we saw some couples get engaged in the end, the most exciting (and perhaps most compatible) duo turned out to be Caelynn Miller-Keyes and Dean Unglert. Miller-Keyes had a rough start in Paradise because her past with Blake Horstmann gave a lot of emotions on screen. But when Unglert entered the beach, she began to fall for him even though others warned her that he would probably break her heart.
We know that Miller-Keyes and Unglert eventually got things working, but their journey to Paradise wasn't really easy. And Unglert recently mentioned on his podcast that leaving Miller-Keyes from the beginning of the show worked pretty well for him. This is what he said.
Dean Unglert initially left Bachelor in Paradise without Caelynn Miller-Keyes
Caelynn Miller-Keyes fell hard and fast for Dean Unglert when he first came to the beach – but from the beginning they were not on the same page. Miller-Keyes hoped to find lasting love on the show, while Unglert commented on his Help! In the Suck At Dating … podcast that he was really just in Paradise for a fun time. For that reason, he dumped Miller-Keyes when he realized they were more serious than he was comfortable with. Unglert ended up leaving her in tears on the beach on her birthday even after she gave her her praise.
Miller-Keyes was heartbroken to see Unglert go, but she tried to move on with Connor Saeli. Unfortunately, Saeli never got a chance, because Unglert realized his mistake and came back to Paradise to ask Miller-Keyes if she would leave the show with him. "I can't say exactly what will happen next, but I know I want to try and I want to find out and I want it to be with you," he said. From there, she reluctantly agreed.
Unglert says leaving Miller-Keyes worked out 100% in his favor
Although Unglert completely regrets his decision to leave Miller-Keyes behind, he noted on his podcast that it actually worked for the best. “It's fun to say this because it worked perfectly for me. It couldn't have worked better for me, ”Unglert noted.
Part of the reason he was glad he jumped out at Paradise too little was that he didn't have to attend Chris Randone and Krystal Nielson's wedding, which he really didn't want to go to. "Not only that, several exes of me were in the wedding I just didn't want to see."
In addition to the wedding, Unglert was also pleased that Miller-Keyes got to explore a new relationship with Connor Saeli. "So she didn't have to, like, have me around … worrying about my feelings while she could explore her relationship with him," he added. "It literally blew my mind about how the stars just adapted to all these things."
The two seem to be doing pretty well outside Paradise
When Unglert returned to Paradise he wasn't sure if Miller-Keyes would leave – but he noted on his podcast that he struck a deal with production which stated that he would not be allowed to enter the beach if he returned. Fortunately, Miller-Keyes still had the remaining feelings she wanted to see through. And now the two are doing better than ever.
Miller-Keyes and Unglert even created a video showing how their lives that lived out of Unglert's van are. And Unglert also mentioned on their podcast that the two undertook a two-year mobile phone plan together. "We've taken the biggest step I've ever taken in a relationship," Unglert said of the phone situation.
It seems that Unglert and Miller-Keyes are very happy together despite previous concerns. Congratulations to the happy couple!
