DC area forecast: Flash flood clock today with a daily risk of storms through the weekend

Today (Wednesday): Morning showers and storms, especially around the city and south, should weaken and end with 7-8 this morning. Partly sunny skies later in the morning will see increasing clouds this afternoon with heights reaching the upper 80s to low 90s and light winds. The moisture is extra thick with the dew points in the mid 70’s. All that moisture in the air in combination with an approaching cold front means scattered showers and storms probably in the middle of the afternoon to evening. All storms that develop should be slow (due to very light steering winds in the middle level of the atmosphere) with the potential for very heavy rain and isolated windy winds. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely to remain out in the evening, again with the potential for very heavy rain and isolated windy winds, before decreasing overnight. The air remains very muggy with light winds and flames in the low-to-mid 70s under mostly cloudy skies. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow (Thursday): Still very humid, but a little cooler with partly to mostly cloudy skies, as heights go towards the mid 80̵

7;s. Once the front has stopped nearby, insulated to scattered showers and storms are possible almost at any time of the day, and again these can be slow with very heavy rain. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night: A few showers and a thunderstorm could linger in the evening. Otherwise we are foggy and mostly cloudy with lows close to 70 to low 70s. Confidence: Medium

A look ahead

Not too hot Friday and this weekend with highlights in the 80s, maybe even the lower half of the 80s Saturday and Sunday, but remains humid with partly sunny skies. The chance of scattered showers and storms also sticks around, especially in the afternoon to evening. Saturday night was down to the upper 60s to low 70s. Confidence: Low-medium
