Skywatchers will be given the chance to see a fitting comet in the night sky on December 16th.
46P / Wirtanen will make one of the 10 nearest comets fly by the earth in 70 years and you can even see it without a telescope, according to NASA.
The comet will approach the Earth at a distance of 7.1 miles, or about 30 mounds of the earth,
"This will be the closest comet Wirtanen has come to earth for centuries and the next will come to earth for centuries, "said Paul Chodas, Head of the Center for Near Earth Earth Studies at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California. In addition, Chodas said: "This may be one of the brightest comets of the years, offering astronomers an important opportunity to study a comet near ground-based telescopes, both optical and radar."
Chodas said that the brightness of comets can be difficult to predict, it is possible that it may be visible to binoculars or the naked eye in the form of a dim dimming of glowing blue / gray light.

The comet is named after the astronomer Carl Wirtanen, who discovered it in 1
