Having started her in short film and reality TV, including a stint as director of photography for MTVs The Hills cinematographer Rachel Morrison has become a big name in the moving world, having taken the craft of everything from Ryan Coogler's Fruitvale Station and Black Panther to films such as Mudbound (for which she took up an Oscar nomination) and the neon-colored streets of Dope . Now Morrison moves from behind the camera to, yes … behind the camera but also the responsibility, we guess, as Variety reports she is doing Barry Jenkins for her direct debut.

] Moonlight director will write the script on Flint Strong a dramatized version of Drea Cooper and Zackary Canepari's documentary T-REX Olympic Gold Medal Boxes (and Flint, Michigan resident) Claressa Shields. Jenkins was thinking of steering the movie himself, but instead chose to simply produce. Which happily opens us to see what Morrison's other remarks include being the first woman to ever be nominated for American The Best of The American Society of Cinematographers-will deal with the visual grandeur of the Shields battles, or the modern devastation that affects the city she is calling home.
