The end of an era: The last Jesuits leave Steyr



They came up with a clear mission: to make the city Catholic again. When Emperor Ferdinand II ordered the settlement of the Jesuits in Steyr in the 17th century, the city was considered the stronghold of Protestantism. In 1620 there were only 16 Catholics left in the city.
