22-year-old elected the youngest mayor of Upper Austria «DiePresse.com

The only 22-year-old Fabian Grüneis (ÖVP) won the Mayor election on Sunday in Waizenkirchen in the Grieskirchen district. He is thus the youngest mayor of Upper Austria.

Grüneis received 52.4 percent of the votes. Thus, no vote was necessary. He won against Andreas Aumayr (Greens) and Gerhard Kaltseis (FPÖ), who reached 39.7 and 7.9 percent. Turnover was 73.13 percent.

The new election had become necessary since the ruling Wolfgang Degeneve (ÖVP) last summer retired for health reasons. ÖVP State Party Chairman and Governor Thomas Stelzer congratulated with the announcement: "Grüneis will bring fresh wind and new ideas into his hometown."

As "Oberösterreichische Nachrichten" Grüneis reports in online marketing for a major disco operator and is also active as DJ "Greenice". So far, "The youngest mayor's" title has led to the 24-year-old Severin Mair from Eferding.
