Auburn Police Death: How to Help Officer William Buechner's Family

After the Auburn Police Officer William Buechner was killed on Sunday evening when he answered a phone call, the community came up with a goal to raise $ 5,000 for Buechner's family.

A GoFundMe page for the Buechner Memorial Fund went live early Monday night. More than SEK 600 was raised during the first hour of crowdfunding effort.

Buechner, a 13-year-old veteran in the ward, was allegedly killed by 29-year-old Grady Wayne Wilkes, who wore armor and helmet when he opened fire on Buechner and two other officers around 1

0:40 on Sunday. The other two officers, Webb Sistrunk and Evan Elliott, were injured during the incident.

Wilkes was caught early Monday morning and charged with murder on the head, three counts of attempted murder and a second count of homicide abuse. [19659002] "It's a great responsibility to tell us what a sad day this is for our society," said Auburn Mayor Ron Anders during a Monday morning conference.
