Adrian Peterson has a funny answer to a career-low Madden rating

When EA Sports launches its player ratings for Madden NFL 21 this week, a number of Washington players have been blown away by their scores – including Adrian Peterson.

Washington’s early rebounds mapped a 78 rating in this year’s rendition of Madden, tied for his lowest score in the past 14 years.

When he saw his rating, Peterson took to Twitter to respond, saying, “Feel free to increase me to 99 in total when playing CPU. No one needs to know.”

Peterson’s Madden 21 ranking is a big drop from his previous success with the game. In 2014, he reached a rating of 99 and was honored as a coverage athlete for the game. He also scored 90 or higher for nine years in a row, ending his first season with Washington.

His rating did not get him a place in the team’s 10 highest ranked players, which leaked to Madden School on Monday. No Washington player ranked higher than an 88, which was understandable after a 3-13 season. Three times Pro Bowl offensive guard Brandon Scherff led the pack ranked 87th.

But driving back Derrius Guice cracked the top 10 with a rating of 81, even though he only played five games last season and missed 27 of 32 possible games in his first two years in the NFL due to three knee surgeries.

Peterson led the team with 898 rushing laps and five rushing touchdowns in 2019. In 15 games played, he averaged 4.3 yards per carry with three fumbles.

Standing receiver Terry McLaurin also responded to his ranking earlier this week. After completing 2019 just nine meters shy of the franchise’s novice who got the record, he received only 82 ratings. In addition, Chase Young will report the highest rookie rating of 80 this year.

Here are Washington’s reported 10 highest ranked players in Madden NFL 21:

OG Brandon Scherff – 87
DL Matt Ioannidis – 86
CB Kendall Fuller – 86
DE / LB Ryan Kerrigan – 84
DL Daron Payne – 83
P Tress Way – 82
