A blow-by-blow breakdown of Redskins' 2018 debut vs patriots

FOXBOROUGH, MA- The Redskins raced out to a 17-3 leader of the Patriots in Week 1 in 2018 NFL Preseason.

The patriots finally won 26-17.

Here are my similar observations from Redskin's birth loss to New England.

First quarter: Redskins 10, Patriots 0

No starters in the Redskins field unless you believe Rob Kelley will be starting September 9th. Colt McCoy was the quarterback, Kelly on the back, Elijah Wellman on FB, Ty Nsekhe, Tyler Catalina, Tony Bergstrom, Kyle Kalis and Geron Christian. Wide recipients were Maurice Harris and Robert Davis, and the narrow end was Jeremy Sprinkle.

– A 20-yard third-down pass from McCoy to Davis allowed Redskins to move down to 20. McCoy got good protection on the slowly developing game and Davis caught it at full speed over the middle.

1; In the third and 11th of 25, McCoy bought some time by rolling a little to the right and finding Byron Marshall, matched to a linebacker, open around 15. A speed match allowed Marshall into the end zone and Redskins led 7-0 with 6:33 left in the first quarter.

-Mat Ioannidis got a bag by Brian Hoyer. It was actually a cover deck that Hoyer could not find anywhere to throw. But Ioannidis continued fighting and took a good sweep on the ball before he raised Hoyer.

-Derrius Guice had a 34-year run on the left side who failed to punish Wellman. He showed good patience and acceleration when he went down on the left before being cut off. He ended up in his left knee and he was evaluated on the sidelines. He was seen walking around later.

The Redskins managed to overcome it and another penalty to drive into the range for Dustin Hopkins to kick a 52-yards field goal and the first quarter ended with Redskins up 10-0. [19659002] Second quarter: Red leather 17, Patriots 3

– Sammy Perine in the game, on the second game he is wearing for 14 meters. Hole over right guard, cut right, good win. Some later play another nice springback, called back through a criminal punishment on Kyle Kalis. Later in the run he lost the handle on the ball, but a limit forward whistle was ignored.

-Cam Sims made his second catch of the game, this 57 meter down to the patriots' crossroads. Got behind the defense, stopped in boundaries and throw a couple of tackles. Two games later McCoy rolled left and found Harris just over the finish line for the touchdown. The score was examined to see if he had both feet inbound and it was maintained. Good grip of Harris.

-With four and a half minutes left in the first half, McCoy has a 143.1-pass grade.

-Ioannidis suffered a knee injury on the left side, he is being evaluated. He got his leg caught in a pile. After being in the field for a few minutes he went very slowly with his own power.

The patriots use a too soft zone and drive 56 meters in four games to get in position for a field goal that gets them on the board.

Third Quarter: Red Leather 17, Patriots 10

Things get sloppy for the Red Skins and it may be expected with the third team. They have given up their backs score on defense with some shoddy zone defense and then a long touchdown device and it was 17-10. A penalty on the subsequent kickoff and another on the crime made the next run a fatal failure.

Fourth Quarter: Patriots 26, Redskins 17

-The site is still sloppy for Redskins. Kenny Ladler had a chance to knock a third down past the receiver, but he could not do it. It was the same scenario a couple of games later when Danny Johnson got a hand on the ball but could not beat it to the ground and the patriots got another 15 meters.

– It eventually resulted in a touchdown that will lead Washington to 17-16. Bill Belichick decided to go for two and it was good and New England took his first lead at 18-17 with 9:05 left to play.

-My bad game. A good win on a pass to Wellman will be detrimental to an illegal stripping block at Simmie Cobbs. Then Hogan throws two incompletes and the red rails point.

-The red skins did something right with about five minutes left. Kenny Ladler hit the runners low, Tim Settle hit him high and the ball came out. Settle recovered and the redskins had the ball on New England 41.

– But a fake start put them back and Hogan never had a chance when he was fired and fumbled. Geneo Grissom shot it and rolled 53 meters to it. Two actors later made the patriots points and the meaningless result was no longer in doubt.

-Dustin Hopkins had plenty of distance on a 56-yards field goal but tried to turn left left.
