LINDEN, NC (WNCN) – A survey of transport and trade with methamphetamine has been going on for several months by the Harnett County Sheriff Office, along with the Wake County Sheriff Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
The investigation led authorities to discover over $ 90 million in methamphetamine on Saturday.
Investigators grabbed a 2009-Peterbuilt semitrailer operated by the 49-year-old Raul Topete Arreola of the Calif., Near the 100 block of Will Lucas Road in Linden.
The authorities say it was when investigators found 120 liters of liquid methamphetamine stored in the driver's fuel tank on the half-car.
The amount of liquid methamphetamine would be converted to approximately 454 kg of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of $ 90.8 million.
The authorities also arrested Aquileo Perez Pineda, 48 of George during the investigation.
Both men have been accused of three bills of methamphetamine trade.
They were detained in the Harnett County Detention Center under a $ 3 million bond.
An immigration holder has issued for Pineda.
ICE is looking at the immigration status of Arrola.
