3 Possible fan theories about why Kevin and Randall don't talk – producers confirm 1 of them

The Fall Final Season 4 This Is Us left us with so many questions. Who is at the forefront of everyone's mind is Kevin (Justin Hartley) and Randall's (Sterling K. Brown) relationship. The two brothers have always had a rocky relationship, but they did so well this season, we almost forgot.

Fans speculate on different ideas why the brothers are fighting. One of the ideas is more credible than the others, according to showrunner Dan Fogelman. Let's take a look at all three, now.

Does Randall and Kevin & # 39; s struggle to do with Randall's daughter, Tess?

In the November 19, 2019 episode, Tess (Eris Baker) has an internal conflict about reaching out to her friends from school that she is gay. Kevin helps her through the fight, and she eventually tells her friends through an Instagram post.

Some fans theorize that something happens after she tells her friends, and Randall blames Kevin for her heart.

"Maybe he's upset by Kevin and Tess's band," a fan wrote on Reddit, "and with him helped her get out to people."

In the fall finale, Randall seems happy that Tess's friends took the news well. So it does not seem likely that this is what is falling out is over.

Two theories surrounding the fight include Rebecca's deteriorating condition

Other fans assume that the fight between Randall and Kevin stems from their mother, Rebecca, and her declining health. Some fans think Kevin is upset because Randall didn't tell him earlier about her memory loss. Other viewers think it may be because Randall tries to force Rebecca to take a more aggressive treatment when she gets her diagnosis.

"I suppose that's because he keeps Rebecca's memory problems and doctors visit a secret from the twins?" Posted a user on Instagram.

"And we will see this argument later in a flashback montage," added another fan.

"I bet they're cursed at Randall because he knew she had dementia and didn't tell them," another viewer wrote on Reddit.

"Or it may be that Rebecca is not talking to Randall," theorized another fan, "if, after being diagnosed, he is pushing for a more aggressive attitude than she is willing to take."

"It can also be possible," one viewer replied. claim dibs. "

"But I still feel like it is so by Randall's character," added another fan. "I feel like an argument you have when a parent is in that state is really small compared to what happens. I can't imagine a scenario where Randall did something so awful that they would ban him from seeing Rebecca. "

Fans are broken about why Randall and Kevin don't talk, nine months in the future. However, they seem to agree that it has something to do with Rebecca's health and what will happen to her in the coming months.

Producer, Dan Fogelman confirms a fan theory

While theories are still about to fall out between Randall and Kevin, limited showrunner, Fogelman, at least for the fans.

"One of them was the do-gooder who couldn't do anything wrong, and the other was the kind of charmer and someone to worry too little about," Fogelman told People about Randall and Kevin. "When something suddenly happens to the lone remaining parent that they both have trouble with – and one of them has kept a secret, and there are other things at play – it probably wouldn't be conceivable that it could cause them" doesn't speak a year from now. "

While there may be other factors at work here, it seems that the many reasons why the brothers do not speak is because Randall keeps Rebecca's health issues secret. We'll know more when This Is Us returns to NBC on January 14, 2020.
